Ruth Pipes with Children, Shreveport La.
[BP] (Ivy Watson Murray, Eugene, me, Walter, Mom, Grandma Pipes on porch, circa 1913) Since Mom said we moved to S'port from Calhoun when I was 2, here I would be 3 at least. We lived at this place (348 Darien, I think) until Pop bought the place at 1631 Division Ave in town about 1919. We are a ratty-looking bunch here, but then there was no running water, no electricity, no paved streets, sidewalks, and no maids. How mom did it on a scrub board, I don't know. Also, the only water we had was rainwater in a cistern. And sometimes it did not rain all summer.
